There are moments that I feel I am traveling without visiting a country. And I really am, we all are. The planet Earth moves about 40,000 km every 24 hours at an approximate speed of 1670 km per hour. We move around the Sun at a speed of 29.8 Km / s. We are part of a Solar System that moves around the center of the galaxy at about 217,215 km / s. About 7 km per second. Nothing more and nothing less. And yet human beings are so strangely rare, that we still want to move, travel, discover other countries on our own planet and even others will explore beyond our planetary borders, looking for life on other neighboring planets and more and beyond.
Traveling means being a nomad, being on the move. It is something natural in the human being. Many of the greatest discoveries of our ancestors, were thanks to being nomads. Until the human being began to feel that he needed to settle. And civilizations, cereal and vegetable plantations began to be created ...
Today, the movement is different, there is a movement that goes outside, to discover and see how they live in other countries. Not only from the sofa in your house, you will surely have very good vision, because nowadays the televisions have very good quality and it seems that you are even traveling simply from the sofa. It is a joy. But you also miss other things that the sofa and television cannot give you. And it is that when you are in another country, you can feel the smells, the different people who are there, start a conversation with a stranger, see places that do not resemble the feeling you have when traveling in person.
This same outer journey gives you the opportunity to make another trip, the inner journey to yourself. To discover yourself and know who you are, how you behave in different situations, keep growing and developing as a person. After several trips, I needed more and more time to extend my time traveling. Working in the hospital allowed me to have a month a year on vacation. But I felt I needed more. I once allowed myself to take a month of "unpaid leave" to travel or to study. It is a permit that I had from the hospital, which allowed me to be without working a month or two but without being paid. So in 2016 I decided to go on a 2 and a half month trip through South America.
The decisions sometimes do not come just like that in a simple way, looking back I realize that everything is having a connection that for whatever reason takes me to the next step. In the summer of 2015, I met one of my best friends, Mili. She is Argentina (Cordobesa), she is an admirable woman. I met her because I learned that on Benicasim beaches they offered Yoga classes on a Paddle surf board. I had just bought a board of these and also practiced yoga, so I found it very interesting to do both and also at sea, where the balance is worked. Mili and I connected very well and what we didn't know is that then that connection would lead us to a long friendship. And even to live and share very important moments for her life and mine. One day at home, while I was watching Facebook, I saw some photos of where she lived in Brazil : A spectacular place, full of trees, beaches, pure nature. I sent her a private message and it all started there. I wanted to go a long time and travel through Brazil and maybe other countries around.
The days went by and I was preparing to ask for the months of leave without salary in the hospital. I also had to see how I organized so that someone could stay in my apartment and not have to be paying the rent during those months, but I also didn't want to leave the apartment, it was too much trouble for 2 or 3 months. So everything was going by, I projected to what I wanted and people who could help me make another dream comes true. It is really magical!
I waited a while to catch the flight, I didn't want to spend a lot of money on the flight. So I researched pages of cheap flights like Skycanner and talked to people who had more experience finding cheap flights. In the end, flying to Sao Paulo was the cheapest and I waited a few days until I felt it was time. I looked for the flight and there it was. Less than 500 euros, round trip to Sao Paulo. In September 2016, I was leaving for Brazil and would not return home until the end of November. It was the longest time I would spend traveling around. And it was for pleasure and for discovering other lands and places.
This trip helped me a lot to know myself more, to have a broader vision of what it means for me traveling. How do I like to travel? I discovered that I like to travel slowly, with time, distributing seeds and making roots wherever I am going. Because when I travel quickly, I may travel to see things, to see places I saw in a photograph or on television and now I want to take that photo. Everything is fine. It is part of traveling and for me that is also important. Seeing Iguazu Falls was an experience I will never forget. I felt as if I was in front of a plasma television with a panoramic view of the falls. Within a few seconds I realized that I was really there. In front of something so immense, created by Nature itself. Really these places keep me on feeling emotion. And the experience of living it live is nothing at all the same as watching those images from TV. But although those experiences remain in the routine of my eyes, in my camera, in my memories. What endures in me even more over time are the friendships I found there and some with a much deeper and special touch.
Love, the search for a partner, not having to travel alone, feel accompanied ... All this I want, and I wanted very much on this trip. I was going to travel alone in an insecure country, for 2 and a half months. I was afraid and at the same time that feeling of trusting that everything would be fine.
Mili told me about a friend of her who welcomes guests in her home in Brazil, exactly in Florianopolis, a tiny island in the south of the country. She is called Vicky and she is also Argentina. I contacted her to reserve a room in her house for 2-3 weeks. Another Brazilian friend who lives in Castellón told me to stay at her mother's house in Curitiba. She was very excited to go there to visit her family and her city. So of course, I was delighted to discover new places and feel well wrapped when arriving in an unknown country.
I flew to Sao Paulo, I had a tremendous cold during the first hours of the flight, I remember ... Until I finally arrived in Brazilian lands. From Sao Paulo airport, I directly took another flight to Curitiba by internal flight. And there in Curitiba, my friend's family waited for me with love. What beautiful people at heart! I spent about 4-5 days visiting the city and surroundings. I went to eat a Feijoada, a typical dish from Brazil, by then I still ate some meat. After those days so wrapped up, I felt that I needed to fly, I needed to leave the city and go into Nature, in the wild.
I took a bus that went straight to Florianopolis. My friend Annelise's family said goodbye to me thanking me. And I felt even more grateful to them for taking care of me so much.
I arrived in Florianopolis, near a hotel, where I had agreed with Vicky, the owner of the house, who would come to pick me up and then take me to the house. When I arrived, she was not there. So I waited for a while until she appeared with her big smile and that joy she always transmits. A woman with a lot of energy and with whom I also shared a lot during those days. Clay and art classes with her teacher ... Wherever I travel, I usually find things that I like and that I can continue to enjoy even without being in Castellón, it's magical, isn't it?
I love Astrology and with her, a great passionate about the subject, I learned and shared a lot. But what I didn't expect was what I was going to find in that house.
Douglas was a boy who was living with her and who worked in the house, besides doing some hours at the hotel near the house. When we saw each other I felt a certain connection between us, but nothing more.
The days in the house were passing, until Douglas and I in a conversation decided to go together to the south of the island. He knew that island very well, in addition to being in love and grateful for everything that island had brought to his life. So we were going to share a trip together as friends (because a very nice friendship had been forged during those days at home). We went to visit beautiful places, sandy beaches and dunes that made me very excited to visit, waterfalls, boat trip, sleep in hostels and share with other travelers like us ... During the trip, between Douglas and I, something more than a friendship emerged. He made himself the first step, and I didn't want to at first. But in the end I got carried away and lived a very beautiful love story that I will always carry in my heart and that although our friendship is still alive and we have each followed our paths. That experience we both lived will remain forever in our memory.
Go back and follow Returning to Vicky's house meant that I was going to continue my journey. I wanted to visit my friend Mili and her husband further south. And then my plans were to continue to Uruguay, then Argentina and then return to Sao Paulo and from there return home. So Douglas and I said goodbye somewhat sadly, but at the same time hoping to see each other again at Mili's house.
I arrived at Mili and Quique's house (her husband). I met the paradise in which they lived. They worked taking care of some houses that their boss had. They were dedicated to the manage the rental of houses and in return they also lived in the owner's house. He was traveling and did not need the house. I found it fascinating to be able to live like this. Quique, would wake up in the morning and go surfing. Mili stayed with me, at that time she was pregnant with a few months of her first child, so we walked along the beach and shared a lot. While there I was wondering what to do, whether to continue the trip alone or propose to Douglas to come with me. I didn’t know what to do. Until in the end, he came to visit me and once there, I suggested it. He told me that he had also been thinking about it, so we started planning the trip together towards another course.
Well, Quique suggested that it was better for the station we were in, go first to the north and then for November to be in Uruguay and have a better temperature. So we embarked on the adventure of going to the Iguazu Falls, and then moving on to Argentina.
